Morning Sitting at 07.15.

Breakfast at 08.00. Comments, reports, observations & noticings were invited from the Performance Team on their presentation yesterday evening. The comments were mostly positive, suggesting this had been a learning experience. Comments were invited from the audients who, also in the main, found this a positive experience. Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you was a frequently heard comment.
So much fun was had by, mostly, all that the main work today was another performance challenge for the Beginners’ Group: at lunchtime & at 17.00. No helpful Hats will be provided to form performance units on this occasion. Possible approaches to organising: call a meeting; maybe sit together & chant until solutions / repertoire appear.
Various schedules for personal meetings called.
Buddy Mr. Marty invited me to work with the Intermediate Circle at 10.15. This was a mature Circle and, although not all superb players, with a capacity to be present & engage with others; which counts for much more.
The Beginners’ are in preparation.
15.05 A superb lunchtime performance by 1919. Solo, small & large group pieces including a progressive duo that sounded like a progressive trio. Well received by the audience.
A visitor with two questions has been to my room.
16.23 Tea at 16.00.

Dinner has been moved to 19.30 to allow the Kitchen Team to attend the performance at 17.00.

21.03 Picks were distributed to the Performance Team in the Hall prior to the performance. The Team entered the ballroom & left immediately, this a first in almost 26 years of GC activity. Apparently there was some confusion over a missing cushion on one of the seats, and a pair of shoes left in its place. The Beginner, whose seat this was, engaged somewhat aggressively with the audience regarding the matter.
A much-improved performance style with snappy pieces presented to a supportive audience. And then, a solo: one with great appeal, although much of the appeal may have been unintentional. Eventually, the appeal dwindled & some encouragement was offered from the audience to give way to the next performer/s; encouragements were offered a few more times without any response from the soloist. At 17.26 it was suggested this was the right time for the Kitchen Team to leave & prepare dinner, with no foreseeable end to the solo in sight & dinner a welcome part of our schedule. I left with them.
The solo performance was not quite honourable & something was lost. At the completion of the performance, something-else was available to the House. The performance finished, the possibility did not become available & was not presented. A moment was lost. Such a pity.

T’ai Chi at 19.00.
Dinner late at 20.50 with a performance by the Intermediates of Red. A nourishing Silence. Ace pecan pie with lotsa whipped cream.
Final Meeting called for 22.00.

22.49 The course finished for some, concluded for others, and completed for some more, at 22.47.
Thanks were given to those who made the course possible, beginning with Director Nunez, Mr. Marty, Dr. Mike, Mariana of the GC Office, all maintainers of AAD activities. Thanks also to Buddies Luciano & Martin D’A., Mikael & Xavier as House Managers, Gabriel & Sylvain in the Kitchen & the Kitchen Team, Alain on translation, Pia on her first solo Alexander at a Beginners’ Course; finally to all those who have traveled long distances to be here and left behind friends & families, some of whom are missing them.
Comments, observations, reports & noticings invited. Overall, a success story.
My own comment: something that was possible & available did not when the performance this evening finished. A dissentient voice spoke out: but they did not know what had been available otherwise. Nevertheless, much of value was achieved this week, IMO. I am rarely astonished and in the past thirty hours have been very astonished.
Hernan is now leading the practicalities-meeting, to return the house to a state of readiness such as we would ourselves like to walk into.
23.03 Dr. Mike dropped in: his return flight is now tomorrow at 22.00. Hernan also visited. The shop is open in the Hall where hangs the board…
